Rotary award for ‘Mr Oldham’

A COMMUNITY stalwart has been recognised for his commitment to the borough with a prestigious award from the Rotary Club of Oldham.
Steve Lowe received the Paul Harris award from club president Colin Higgins and co-proposers Trevor Fielding and Richard Murphy.
Steve has become known as “Mr Oldham” for his involvement with a wide range of projects, including Mahdlo, Groundwork Oldham, Oldham Business Awards and as a governor of Oldham Sixth Form College.
The award is named after the founder of the international Rotary movement.
Trevor said: “We gave Steve the award for what he has done for Oldham over the years. He built the reputation as ‘Mr Oldham’ and he deserves the name. He has put a heck of a lot into the town and is a genuine and nice man who is fully deserving of this recognition.”
