The number of Oldhamers receiving benefits has fallen again.
Jobseeker’s Allowance and Universal Credit claimants in the borough fell to 4,527 in September, a drop of 215 over the same period last year.
Martin Wright of Oldham Jobcentre Plus, said: “It’s again good news for Oldham. The figures also show a 32 per cent decrease — that’s 2,100 fewer - from the recession period of 2010.”
He said employment prospects continue to improve, with several stores on the lookout for staff for Christmas.
