Local surgeries in good health
Date published: 16 October 2015
OLDHAM’S GP surgeries are in good health says the Care Quality Commission.
Of the 12 practices assessed by the health body before May 2015, 11 were rated “good” and one - Hope Cidadel Healthcare’s Hollinwood Medical Practice - was classed “outstanding”.
Seven of the borough’s adult social care providers were also inspected, with three rated as requiring improvement, the remaining four “good”.
The results form part of the CQC’s State of Care 2014/14 annual analysis of the quality of health and adult social care in England.
The report is the first time a national assessment has been possible following CQC’s introduction of a tough ratings system.
The information was taken from the first 14 months of the inspection programme, which launched in April 2014, where 5,000 organisations were inspected.
The national report found that, despite increasingly challenging circumstances, the majority of services across health and social care have been rated as good, with some rated outstanding. But there is a significant variation in quality
