Pub to make way for housing

New homes will be built on the site of the Brookdale pubs, which will be demolished
PLANS to demolish a derelict Failsworth pub and build new homes have been welcomed by a local councillor.
The Brookdale, on Coronation Road, will be bulldozed to make way for the 16 houses. The plans, which include a mixture of semi-detached and town-house style three-bedroomed properties, were unanimously supported by Oldham Planning COmmittee members.
Failsworth West Councillor Sean Fielding, who spoke in support of the plans during the meeting, said: “Housing proposals can be controversial, but in this case there is no controversy whatsoever.
“Residents in the area are universally supportive of these plans which will see the demolition of this unsightly building and construction of something much more in keeping with the area.”
The old pub has stood empty for more than five years
