Date published: 20 October 2015
POLICE are investigating after bricks were thrown at a fire engine as crews attempted to put out a blaze in Glodwick.
Firefighters were called to land off Pitt Street following reports of a bonfire on Saturday night. When they arrived around 20 people surrounded the engine and threw bricks, smashing a window. The crew retreated without dousing the fire.
Police Sergeant Andy Wheeler said: “This is completely unacceptable behaviour that could have seriously injured someone. The fire engine requires repair.”
He appealed for information. Call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800-555 111.
