POLICE stopped 69 motorists and seized 15 vehicles in a clampdown on traffic offences in Oldham yesterday.
Operation Considerate saw officers swoop on Manchester Road and Chadderton Way as part of a wider scheme across Greater Manchester to reduce accidents by encouraging motorists to drive with consideration for others.
Eleven vehicles were confiscated for having no insurance, four for not being taxed and £10,000 was recovered from a foreign HGV whose owner had failed to pay an outstanding fine.
In addition, 69 traffic offences were issued for mobile phone use and drivers not wearing a seat belt,.
Insp Susan Redfern said: “This was a joint operation with ourselves and TfGM to reduce serious incidents on the road. The operation has already been held in Rochdale and Bury and will continue across all the boroughs of Greater Manchester. We had some really good results yesterday.”
