FEEDING those less fortunate . . . Kendra Marland paid for a hamper of food for Oldham Foodbank
WHEN nine-year-old schoolgirl Kendra Marland heard about fellow Oldhamers struggling to afford warm food she took action - and used her spending to buy not sweets but enough food to fill a hamper for the Oldham Foodbank.
Kendra’s donation was part of Lyndhurst Primary School’s harvest festival appeal, in which pupils selected from a long list of items to donate to the foodbank.
The year four pupil said: “I feel very lucky for what I have in my fridge and that I have a warm home. I wanted to treat others who don’t have food and can’t afford it.”
Kendra’s teachers were so touched by Kendra’s act they presented her with a special certificate for her generosity.
