Make a Big Splash!

OLDHAMERS are being urged to make a splash to build a new £2.2 million hydrotherapy pool for disabled pupils.
Kingfisher School has launched the Big Splash campaign to replace its current pool, which is 43 years old and prone to breakdowns, with poor changing facilities.
The Chadderton school has already received a large number of donations and pledges, but still needs £500,000.
The school, in Foxdenton Lane, is Oldham’s only primary school for children with the most severe and complex special needs.
The new pool will also be available for other people to use.
Head teacher Anne Redmond said: “Our pupils are Oldham’s most vulnerable children and they need very specialist facilities to support their learning and development.
“Hydrotherapy is very important as it supports children in a way no other treatment can — and it really makes a difference to their quality of life.”
The school is appealing for donations — not matter how small — to help make the difference.
“We have an opportunity to build a state-of-the-art pool which will benefit many families throughout Oldham,” added Mrs Redmond.
People who would like to support the school can contact 0161-770 5910 or info@kingfisher.oldham.sch.uk.
Note: in earlier versions of this story it wasn't made clear that some non-school use would be possible.
