CHOPPED down . . . the tree on Rowan Tree Road
COUNCIL chiefs are appealing for witnesses after someone took a chainsaw to a healthy tree and left it blocking the road.
On Friday evening Oldham Council was called out after reports a poplar was lying across Rowan Tree Road in Limehurst. The Highways team used heavy equipment to push the tree to one side and reopen the road.
Councillor Barbara Brownridge, cabinet member for neighbourhoods: “It amazes me that someone would want to chop down a healthy tree for no reason. We are treating it as criminal damage. If we find the person responsible we will take action against them.”
