Gwynne, Farage, woo voters

LABOUR and UKIP continued their by-election campaigns in Oldham West and Royton yesterday.

UKIP leader Nigel Farage visited Hollinwood Metrolink station in the morning to meet commuters and then headed to Royton Market to chat with traders.

Mr Farage then took to Coalshaw Green Road for a spot of canvassing with UKIP’s local team and Oldham West and Royton candidate John Bickley.

The Labour party also brought in reinforcements to support their candidate Jim McMahon.

Andrew Gwynne MP, Labour’s Shadow Public Health Minister, joined Councillor McMahon in meeting people worried about GP access.

Statistics show nearly one third of people in Oldham can’t get a GP appointment within a week — something Mr Gwynne chatted to people about at the over 60s club, Broadway, Chadderton at lunchtime.
