LABOUR Oldham West and Royton candidate Jim McMahon was joined by shadow home secretary Andy Burnham as they visited Oldham’s CCTV control centre to learn about increased pressure on police.
Mr Burnham, Greater Manchester Police Crime Commissioner Tony Lloyd, Councillor McMahon and Angela Rayner MP for Ashton and Failsworth, visited the CCTV control centre to see the ongoing task of keeping the streets safe.
Mr Burnham said: “It was great to see the important work being done in the CCTV control centre and the police and council working together to prevent and solve crime in Oldham.
“We heard deep concerns about the impact big police budget cuts will have on communities like Oldham, both in terms of every day policing and in our ability to deal swiftly with any potential terrorist incident.
“That’s why Labour is putting pressure on the Government to ensure there are no cuts to front-line policing.”
