Wind band blows away the judges

MEMBERS of Oldham Music Centre’s youth wind band have received the highest accolade from the adjudicators in the National Concert Band Festival — a platinum award.

The festival, one of the highlights of the concert band calendar, attracts groups from all over the country.

The platinum achievement gives the band an automatic entry into the National Concert Band Festival final at the Royal Northern College of Music in the New Year.

Conductor Andy Wilson said: “The band was just brilliant. The feedback could not have been more positive and I am very proud of the students.”
