Shirt appeal for fan’s funeral

LATICS fanatics . . . Cath and Jeff
THE funeral of a popular Latics fan this week has prompted family and friends to ask supporters if they might donate an old team shirt.
Latics superfan Cath Keane (46), partner of fellow supporter Jeff Elliott for the last 30 years, will be laid to rest at Oldham Crematorium, Hollinwood, on Friday. The funeral is to be a celebration of Cath’s life and attendees have been asked to turn up in Athletic shirts.
The club has donated several jerseys and organised a round of applause for Cath — better known to supporters by her nickname “Cardboard” — during the last home match against Southend.
But Cath was so popular the expected turnout far outweighs the number of shirts Latics could supply, leaving the family to ask for donations.
If you can donate a shirt — new or old, in any size — leave it at the club’s ticket office or at Viking Fitness, Unit 3, St John’s Industrial Estate, Lees, or 3 Kirkdale Drive, Royton. Or contact Simon King on 07808-863 834 for collection.
Following Friday’s service, the shirts will be donated to a charity shop of Jeff’s choice.
