A Metrolink tram
THE opening of a new tram stop in Manchester on Sunday heralds the start of a six-minute daytime service to Oldham.
The Exchange Square Metrolink stop is expected to open and trams will initially run between Shaw and Crompton and Exchange Square via the new outbound Platform D, opening the same day at Victoria Station’s new-look Metrolink stop.
Trams currently operate every 12 minutes Monday to Saturday, with a less-frequent service on Sundays.
Transport chiefs say the opening is a boost in the run up to Christmas and also marks a major milestone for the Second City Crossing, a new tram line through the heart of the city due to fully open in 2017.
