HAPPY living . . . Ann Taylor, Bob Rathbone and Brenda Smith
A ONE-IN-A-MILLION gran and a faithful furry friend who keeps residents feline fine are just two of the Oldham nominees for a top-dog honour.
Ann Taylor of Earls Lodge in Failsworth and Felix the cat, who resides at Millfield Care Home in Waterhead, have both been shortlisted in Anchor care and housing charity’s Happy Living awards.
Ann is up for Grandparent of the Year after being nominated by her 10-year-old granddaughter, Frankie Williams, and Felix, who became the home’s cat after his owner who he moved in with died, is in line for Best Pet.
Explaining why she nominated her nan, Frankie said: “My fabulous nanna is the most loving, kind, generous nanna you could ask for. You couldn’t ask for a more perfect grandparent.
Felix is a much-loved fixture at Millfield and has brought happiness to residents.
Two other Earls Lodge residents have also been nominated for awards. Bob Rathborne (76) was nominated by 60 friends and neighbours for the Best Neighbour accolade for always going the extra mile.
Brenda Smith was nominated for the Green Fingered Customer award for her hard work in the communal gardens.
Winners will be announced later this month.
