Bogus fire officials on the prowl
Date published: 07 December 2015
RESIDENTS are being warned that bogus callers are pretending to be from the fire service.
There have been two incidents over the past few days in which callers have been wearing blank identification badges and either high-vis jackets or smart clothing. They have claimed to work for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.
Chairman of Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Authority, Councillor David Acton, reminded people that fire service staff always wear identification badges with pictures, and carry warrant cards. Householders can ask to look at them.
