MISMATCH: Councillor Lesley Brown with the lines of different widths
A councillor claims different width double yellow lines have turned a popular destination into a “liquorice allsorts” village.
The lines on Uppermill High Street vary in width at everal points. In one case they are different on opposite sides of the road. The differences follow repainting after extensive sewer works in the area.
Saddleworth parish councillor Lesley Brown, chair of Saddleworth Civic Trust, said: “The council stopped painting thicker lines and reverted to the thinner double lines. It makes the village look a mess.”
An Oldham council spokesman said workmen will now paint only narrow lines where appropriate - but residents have been dismayed to hear they won’t be repainting the thicker lines.
