Be Santa to a lonely OAP this Christmas
Date published: 09 December 2015
A GIFT giving scheme is being launched to ensure older people living alone get something special this Christmas.
Mobility specialists Millercare of Huddersfield Road and Oldham Library are running a “Be a Santa to a Senior” campaign and encouraging younger Oldhamers to help them spread some festive cheer.
People can buy or donate a gift from any store and hand it in at either Millercare or Oldham Library.
Gifts will be gift-wrapped by volunteers and sent direct or to local organisations for distribution.
Deborah Curry of Oldham Library explained: “It’s been estimated that nearly half a million older people will spend Christmas day alone, and most won’t receive a single present. If you know of someone like that let us know.”
