OLDHAM Council’s Lifelong Learning Service has been rated outstanding across the board for the second time.
Ofsted awarded top marks in its first inspection since 2009 - at which the serevice also got an outstanding rating.
Lifeong learning covers part-time courses for adults in local centres around the borough in libraries, schools, children’s centres and other community facilities.
Ofsted’s report shows Oldham’s adult students have much greater success rates than the national average.
Councillor Shoab Akhtar, cabinet member for education and skills, said: “This report is a great endorsement. To have Ofsted confirm we are delivering a hugely effective public service is great news and a source of great pride. The achievement is even more remarkable when you consider we are one of the largest providers of adult education in Greater Manchester.”
