Green field site to be a safe Haven

CHRISTMAS has come early for residents in Moorside after an appeal to reinstate controversial plans to build 29 new homes was dismissed.
Oxfordshire-based Heyford Developments wanted to build 29 houses on a green site off Haven Lane, but the plans have been rejected twice this year by Oldham Council’s planning committee. Residnts living next to the site have spent the past year fighting the proposals.
Heyford Developments lodged an appeal, which has now been refused by an independent inspector. Residents hope this will be the final nail in the coffin for the controversial development.
Mrs Hanson said: “At the moment it’s a big relief and a weight off our shoulders. This shows that nothing is cut and dried if you fight. We certainly hope this is the last of it, we’ve fought really hard.”
