MUSICAL pupils are taught at Mossley Hollins School.
A PROJECT to teach every pupil a musical instrument has earned a schools partnership a nomination for a national award.
The Mossley and Carbrook schools partnership (MCSP) is celebrating being a finalist in Classic FM’s Best Classical Music Education Initiative Award. The project, involving Mossley Hollins and four partner primary schools — Livingstone, St George’s, Milton St John’s and Buckton Vale — provides an opportunity for pupils to enjoy an introduction to music.
The young musicians meet each week in their respective schools and at Mossley Hollins to play together under the direction of Martyn Evans, from Classic Music Solutions Limited, who coordinates the project.
Stuart Marshall, Mossley Hollins head teacher, said: “The nomination is a reward for the commitment we all share to practical music making.
The winner of the award is determined by a public vote on the Classic FM website. To vote for the Mossley and Carrbrook Schools Outreach Project, go to www.musicteacherawards.co.uk and follow the link or go to the Mossley Hollins web site, www.mossleyhollins.com.
