Lib-Dem demands UKIP refund £2

MATT ALLEN and his unwanted - and expensive - mail
A LOCAL Liberal Democrat campaigner was less than impressed when he had to pay £2 to retrieve a letter from the Post Office — only to discover it was UKIP by-election material.
Matt Allen (28), who moved from Royton to Rochdale earlier this year, was hit with the charge when he picked up held mail, as the sender hadn’t paid the postage.
Inside the envelope was a letter from UKIP candidate John Bickley, urging Mr Allen to vote for him in the Oldham by-election - which had been a week earlier.
Mr Allen said: “I must admit I wasn’t too happy. I know it will have been a mistake and I know it’s only £2 but it’s the principle of it. I’d like my £2 back.”
Mr Allen approached Mr Bickley and UKIP leader Nigel Farage on Twitter asking for his money back. Neither replied.
But after the Chronicle contacted UKIP, the party has offered to refund Mr Allen’s £2.
