TWO Girl Guides have been rewarded for their hard work and dedication.
Sarah Bailey and Katie Hardman-Elliot, both 15, are proud recipients of guiding’s highest honour, the Baden Powell Award.
Members of the 46th Oldham St Anne’s Guides in Royton, the pair have spent months completing award, which is given to only a small number of guides each year.
As well as completing tasks from the challenge’s 10 zones, the pair hosted weekly activities, cooked for their fellow guides, completed an orienteering weekend and incorporated their passions for cooking and music.
The guide leader who helped them, Diane Jones, said: “This is only the second pair of guides to complete this award in the eight years I’ve been here. You need to be dedicated. Sarah and Katie have done really well and I’m very proud of them.”
The pair were presented with their certificates and badges by district commissioner Naomi Sanderson.
