Honoured . . . Stacey Stanhope
STACEY Stanhope has received an MBE in the New Year honours for her work to raise awareness of hate crime and domestic violence.
The 40 year old, who lives in Moorside, said she was honoured and grateful, adding: “I thought it was joke when I first heard. It came completely out of the blue and I was shocked.”
Originally from Liverpool, Stacey lived in Jamaica before attending Oxford Brookes and Manchester universities.
She joined the Crown Prosecution Service seven years ago and is an equality, diversity and community engagement manager, working across the north west.
She works with different organisations to raise awareness about hate crime and domestic violence. “One of the biggest challenges we have is getting disabled people to report hate crime,” explained Stacey.
Stacey received her MBE for services to law and order, particularly equality and diversity.
