A FURRY Oldham care home companion is the cat that got the cream after winning a national award.
Fourteen-year-old Felix is officially the cat’s whiskers after winning the “best pet” category of Anchor Housing’s Happy Living Awards. She was nominated by Millfield Care Home in Waterhead as a friend to residents, having stayed on after the death of her owner.
Ann Marie Widdowson, who works at Millfield, said: “She makes our home a home. She has given some residents real purpose in life, tending to her needs for food, water, grooming and so on.”
There were over 300 nominations for the awards.
