VICTIM: Miriam Nyazema
A spurned lover stabbed his former girlfriend to death at her home, a court has been told.
Josphat Mutekedza waited for Miriam Nyazema — a nurse at Shawside Nursing Home in Shaw — at her house in Shawclough last July and repeatedly stabbed her with a knife.
Bolton Crown Court heard that Mutekedza (36) started a relationship with Miss Nyazema in 2013, while also seeing a woman at his home in Eastbourne.
Mark Kellet, prosecuting, said the defendant stabbed 37-year-old Miss Nyazema in the face, chest, shoulder and back on July 28 last year after she arrived home with new boyfriend Jacob Chigombe.
Neighbours tried to help as the victim staggered into their garden, a knife still in her back, but fled when Mutekedza threatened them with a BB gun.
Mutekedza, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to manslaughter but denies murder.
The trial continues.
