CHAMPIONS . . . Lewis Palfrey holds aloft the League One Championship Rose Bowl and Oldham Rugby players celebrate after their promotion play-off success against Keighley Cougars
FANS of Oldham Rugby League Club will be able to meet their 2015 promotion heroes in Spindles Town Square Shopping Centre on Saturday.
Led by club captain Lewis Palfrey, Kingstone Press League One player of the year, the 21-man Roughyeds squad will make a public appearance in the upper mall of the centre between noon and 1pm after dashing from training — the players are preparing for Sunday’s Law Cup clash with derby rivals Rochdale Hornets at Spotland Stadium.
Exhibiting the two trophies they won last season, the League Leaders’ Shield and the League One Championship Rose Bowl, players will mingle with supporters and sign autographs.
There will be opportunities for supporters to have photographs taken with the players and the trophies — and a chance for fans to win a signed shirt.
Club chairman Chris Hamilton said: “The fans played a massive part in what the club achieved in a memorable 2015 season and this is one way the players can thank them for their support, and ignite their enthusiasm for our Championship campaign which starts with a home game against the full-time professionals of London Broncos on Sunday, February 7.
