Former Mayoress dies

FORMER Mayoress of Oldham, Kathleen Armitage, has died two months after her husband, Jack.
The couple were the borough’s first citizens in 1975-76. Mr Armitage, a councillor from 1954 until 1995, was also made an honorary Alderman in 1996. Mrs Armitage died on January 8 aged 92. Her husband was also 92 when he died in November.
The funeral will take place at Oldham Crematorium, Hollinwood, on Wednesday, January 27, at 2pm. The couple had five daughters: Sheila, Carole and Lisa, and the late Moya and Jacqueline.
