KIND-HEARTED pupils at two Oldham primary schools have been doing all they can to help their friend to walk unaided.
After hearing about five-year-old Olivia Berry’s wish to walk, Yew Tree Community School and Mather Street Primary School teamed up to help.
Olivia, from Chadderton, has Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy, and the tightness of her muscles means she needs a walking frame to get around. Even sitting down is painful.
Her family has set about raising £25,000 for physiotherapy and an operation to help the Yew Tree pupil walk unaided.
The schools have raised £600 for the appeal.
Rais Bhatti, head of school at Yew Tree, said: “The school has always been very active in raising funds and awareness on a number of issues and charities. It’s really heartening to be able to raise money to help one of our own.”
The schools are already planning another event later this year
Olivia’s mum, Christie Kindon, said: “I’m thrilled with the response. it’s really heartwarming.”
