Premiere reward for contribution to cult film sequel

A student at University Campus Oldham will attend the London premiere of a film he and his classmates helped to make.
Jonathan Garvey was one of six media students from the campus and Oldham College who filmed a short scene for “Samurai Cop 2: Deadly Vengeance” — whose star Mathew Karedas will also visit Oldham.
Shot at Diggle Band Club, they worked with lecturers Dave Robinson and John Eccles to produce a segment. And while just 15 seconds made it into the final film — the sequel to cult classic “Samurai Cop” — the complete three-minute scene will appear as a special feature on the film’s DVD.
Dave was asked to get involved after interviewing Mathew for a film website. He attended the US premiere last year.
He will be at the UK premiere with Jonathan at the Prince Charles Cinema in London’s Leicester Place on February 9. Mathew will visit Oldham on February 12 to speak to students.
Dave said “Filming was a fantastic opportunity for our students to have early experience of real world film making. It’s brilliant that Mathew wants to come to Oldham to meet our students in person.”
