OLDHAM’s Buckley Belles at last year’s carnival
THE date has been set for the 2016 Oldham Carnival RootZ Festival.
Organisers have chosen July 10 and Alexandra Park is again the venue, where there will be attractions to suit all ages.
Carnivalgoers can pull on their skates for one of the star attractions — a dry ice rink, open from 11am-6pm as part of the carnival’s “Freebie Zone.” Blades will be provided free.
One of the biggest draws in recent years is the RootZ stage, which offers a platform for local talent to play to a live audience. It’s open to all performers, from rock bands and theatre and dance groups to solo artists and orchestras. Performers are warned to book a spot early through the online application form at www.oldhamcarnival.org.uk/rootzstage.html.
