Driver abandons injured woman

POLICE questioned a man on Saturday after an injured woman was apparently left abandoned, trapped inside a crashed car in Oldham town centre.
The man was traced by police after the woman, in her late 30s was cut free from a Vauxhall - which had hit the Oldham Way central reservation at the exit from King Street.
An fire service spokesman said: “One woman was trapped and had to be released. The road had to be shut for over an hour as we freed her.”
The woman suffered serious left leg and hip injuries and some minor head injuries. She was taken to Royal Oldham Hospital.
Greater Manchester Police’s traffic unit said the driver, aged 28, was traced later.
