OLDHAM radio star Clint Boon got an insight into life as a homeless person when he set up stall outside Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre.
The Inspiral Carpets keyboard player, DJ and radio presenter, was among a group of star names enlisted to sell Big Issue.
They included Ian Munro, chief executive of social housing provider New Charter Group, who donned a “Big Issue in the North” tabard to sell the magazine alongside a regular vendor.
He said: “It’s not easy. I can’t imagine what it must be like to do this every day, on the streets, not knowing necessarily where you are going to sleep that night.”
Other supporters who took their turn in selling the magazine in Manchester included actress Maxine Peake, Garry Shewan, Assistant Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police, Tony Lloyd, Greater Manchester Police and Crime Commissioner, and Lemn Sissay, author, broadcaster and Chancellor of the University of Manchester.
