A GROUP of young in Oldham fundraisers is saying “on your bike” to cancer as they prepare for a 20K sponsored bike ride.
Jasmin Goodall (8), Joshua Goodall (10), Anya Fotheringham (9), Malia Fotheringham (11) and Brodie Bennett (11) decided they were fed up of hearing about how the disease affects so many people and wanted to do something to help beat it.
The pupils, all of Holy Rosary Primary School in Fitton Hill, came up with the idea to cycle 20K round Alexandra Park on February 28 to collect sponsorship for Cancer Research UK.
Victoria Goodall, mum to Jasmin and Joshua, said: “Their enthusiasm and thoughtfulness astounds me.
“They saw how cancer affects everyone and decided to do something about it — raising money and awareness of how people are affected by the disease.”
The five have also used their pocket money to buy things to raffle at the school’s parents’ evening on February 24 to boost the total.
