Darcy-Jaine Hopwood died on Saturday after being struck by a car when leaving a friend’s wedding
Tributes have been paid to a young woman killed when hit by a car as she left a friend’s wedding in Australia.
Darcy-Jaine Hopwood, originally from Oldham, was struck by the car following the celebrations in Borneo, south of Melbourne, on Saturday night. It’s understood friends tried desperately to save her with CPR.
Her sister, Jaide, said the family was heartbroken by Darcy-Jaine’s death, describing her as “an amazing loving person” who had her whole life ahead of her
The 22 year old moved to Australia with her mother and siblings in 2007 when she was 14, but had been a pupil at Mossley Hollins High School. Her father Phillip Hopwood and his wife Alison still live in Chadderton and have flown to the country after hearing the news.
Darcy-Jaine had recently qualified as a nurse.
