UNSUITABLY DRESSED: (l-r) Gerry Jones, Mark Smith, Dave Thomas.
A CHRISTMAS Day joke turned into a charity moneyspinner for three dedicated Roughyeds fans who dared to dress down.
Gerry Jones, Mark Smith and Dave Thomas have been fans of Oldham RLFC for years and rarely miss games.
They donned their onesies, dressed up and put themselves about at the games against Barrow, Rochdale and London Broncos to raise £750 for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice.
Gerry (37) said: “It all started as a joke. I dressed up on Christmas Day, put the image on social media and the ‘likes’ started to come in thick and fast. I decided that if I got more than 100 I would have to do something about it.
“Once they topped the ton I decided to open a Just Giving page for Dr Kershaw’s and to push it by going dressed up to Roughyeds games. Dave and Mark joined me and we are chuffed that what started out as a bit of a laugh on Christmas Day raised a lot for Dr Kershaw’s.
