Sunday bus service for the chop

AN Oldham bus route is among those to be axed under a regional transport savings drive.
The 412 Sunday service, which passes the Royal Oldham Hospital and provides an hourly link between Oldham and Middleton via Royton and Boarshaw is due to be withdrawn from April 3.
A spokesman for Transport for Greater Manchester, which helps to financially support the service, said the decision was due to lack of demand after a recent survey showed an average of around one passenger per trip.
The move is part of service cuts across Greater Manchester and includes withdrawing 28 supported services and a further 45 reductions or rationalisations, all part of TfGM’s attempt to save £7.1 million in the two years to March.
