YOUNG entrepreneur Daniel Arundel has suffered a crushing blow to his business with a second break-in that will cost him £1,500 for repairs.
The 19 year old, who battled panic and anxiety attacks at school, conquered his fears to launch his own company when he was 16. He then expanded Arundel Bakery when he won £1,000 last year as runner-up in the Peter Jones National Entrepreneur of the Year competition, alongside a £3,000 grant from the Stoller Charitable Trust.
But yesterday’s break-in — the second in weeks at his Forge Industrial Estate premises in Greenacres Road — has left him devastated.
The driven teenager, pictured here with his mother Liz, first set up his own business with a market stall in 2012. As the business grew, Daniel, then 17, signed up to the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy at Oldham College to learn more about business, and graduated with the highest distinction.
He moved his bakery to Greenacres last year - and was one of 22 local companies broken into during January.
The raiders wrecked the office but didn’t take anything: Daniel never leaves money on the premises.
He bounced back from that event but the second raid, weeks later, has hit his resolve.
“It’s going to cost about £1,500 to put things right. I haven’t got that sort of money, but my family all said they would try to help me out,” said Daniel.
“I come to work every day and work hard, and it’s demoralising to arrive in the morning to find someone has broken in and made all this mess.
Police have launched an investigation.
