EVERYONE’S favourite fictional characters came to life during World Book Day yesterday.
Young bookworms across Oldham marked the global celebration of reading with a day of literary fun.
From contemporary characters such as Harry Potter to classics like Heidi and Annie, children let their imaginations run wild as they dressed up as their storybook heroes.
Now in its 19th year, World Book Day celebrates authors, illustrators, books and reading in the biggest celebration of its kind, marked in 100 countries.
The day also gives schools an opportunity to raise funds for Book Aid, a charity which sends half a million books to 12 countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
The idea is to increase access to the best quality books in some of the poorest areas of the world.
