SHARING his secrets . . . Chadderton’s “MasterChef” champ Simon Wood
CHADDERTON’S culinary king Simon Wood is cooking up a storm when his debut recipe book hits the shelves next month.
“At Home with Simon Wood: Fine Dining Made Simple” showcases the reigning BBC “MasterChef” champion’s approach to fine dining at home with tips, tricks and signature recipes to help enthusiasts rise to any cooking occasion.
The book — the realisation of a long-held ambition for the father-of-four — is released on April 11 and includes a collection of his favourite dishes, such as wild mushroom ravioli with sage butter and crispy lamb salad.
It’s also packed with tips on how to maximise flavours and textures, as well as how to present food to perfection.
“As well as maximising taste, I like to make my food look amazing,” said Simon.
“I think it’s such an important side of cooking: it instantly tells the diner the dish is good, and that you have put thought and effort into what you are producing for them.
“I hope that this book will pass on some of my passion for the art of plating, and the intensity of flavour you can achieve with a few simple ingredients.”
A year ago, Simon was working as a data manager and could only dream of becoming a professional chef. After applying for his favourite TV cookery programme, he sailed through the auditions, landed a spot on the show and impressed judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace week after week. Seven million viewers watched Simon crowned champion.
