Groups join annual global celebration

The Saddleworth Palestine Women’s Scholarship Fund held an open event ahead of International Women’s Day, featuring Palestinian female speakers. Taking part were (from the left) Michele Abendstern, Jacqui Greenfield, Arwa Abu Haikal Harvard, from Hebron, and Kathy Brooks.
YOUNG Indian dancers got a head start on International Women’s Day today with a special event to mark the day at the weekend.
The Indian Association Centre in Schofield Street, Oldham, hosted a family day on Saturday to mark the occasion.
In Uppermill, the Methodist Church held an IWD event on Sunday, titled “Women of Palestine living through trauma; Building resilience”.
Organised by the Saddleworth Palestine Women’s Scholarship Fund, the event included female speakers from Palestine, a short film by The Freedom Theatre in Jenin, as well as Palestinian goods available to buy.
