Every little helps in store’s food giveaway

Unsold food will become meals for vulnerable people in an innovative new service across Greater Manchester.
In a continuing pledge to cut food waste, Tesco’s Community Food Connection programme with FareShare FoodCloud will support charities and community groups, linking them to Tesco stores which will alert beneficiaries about surplus food at the end of each day. Tesco Extra in Ashton Road, Failsworth is joining 12 other branches in Greater Manchester in the scheme.
Unsold fruit, vegetables, bakery products, meat, dairy and ready meals will be available. FareShare FoodCloud is a partnership between UK food redistribution charity FareShare and Irish social enterprise FoodCloud.
Tesco’s 13 stores across Greater Manchester are among the first in the country to offer the service
