BRAVE volunteers hot-footed it across scorching coals in a bid to raise money for Mahdlo Youth Zone.
The fund-raising challenge, now in its second year, made around £2,000 for the Egerton Street youth zone.
Revolution 96.2FM presenter Elliot Eastwick was joined by dozens of Mahdlo staff, local businesses and volunteers for the Firewalk Challenge. Participants were cheered on by more than 400 people who visited Mahdlo for the “Love Oldham, Love Mahdlo” family carnival.
The spectacular event featured stilt walkers, stalls, interactive art and dance performances and aimed to celebrate the youth zone’s fourth birthday last week.
Claire Crossfield, Mahdlo development manager, said: “It was amazing to see so many people come to celebrate our birthday — especially our brave team of firewalkers.
“Huge thanks must go to Elliot from Revolution, our supporters, staff, volunteers and in particular the young people who have raised such a brilliant amount for Mahdlo.”
