STEVE HILL: another award for his trophy cabinet
INSPIRING teacher Steve Hill has brought home a gong from the annual National Adventure Awards.
He won the Public Vote award at the ceremony in Glasgow, which honours the country’s top adventurers.
The deputy head at St Joseph’s Primary School, Shaw, has undertaken a series of annual gruelling challenges — from a North Pole marathon to climbing Mont Blanc — to help his year six classes raise thousands of pounds for charity.
Mr Hill, who received the MBE last year, said: “I feel very honoured to bring the award home to Oldham. I was gobsmacked when my name was read out — more than 10,000 votes were cast and they informed me that I had received over 35 per cent!
“There were some incredible stories and many inspiring people at the awards who had all undertaken some amazing feats of adventure from around the world.”
