A FUN day at Hollinwood Cricket Club drew the crowds and helped a cause close to the heart of the community.
The Limeside Lionesses Rugby Club organised the fundraiser for Ellis Robinson and Riley Parrish.
Ellis (17) was left paralysed after an accident while training with his team, Limeside King George FC, at Hathershaw Sports Centre.
Riley (seven) defied doctors’ predictions by learning to walk again following brain surgery after suffering a stroke when he was only four years old.
Kind-hearted donors had fun playing rugby and various other games to raise just over £3,000 on the day — with more money still to be collected.
Half of the money will help Ellis’s recovery, while the other half will go towards Riley’s rehabilitation and physio treatment
