A HIGH-FLYING pupil who came from China to study in Oldham is among four Hulme Grammar School students offered places at Oxbridge.
Ning Sun — who is studying for a helicopter pilot’s licence in his spare time — joined Hulme in February 2014, and has been living with two retired teachers.
He has been offered a place to read engineering at Girton College, Cambridge.
Cambridge is also the destination for Nicola Frost and Helen Schofield who have been offered places to study engineering and chemical engineering at Murray Edwards College and chemical engineering at Clare College respectively.
Completing the quartet is Saul Lowndes-Britton who has an offer to read English at Exeter College Oxford.
Deputy principal John Dalziel said: “We’re delighted. They are the best of a very strong group of students and all have a great deal to offer their chosen colleges. Ning is originally from our partner school, Tinghu High School in China, and has only been in the UK for two years. He’s kept himself very busy.”
