Firefighters attend to the fire in Abbeyhills Rd

A DRIVER escaped injury after his car crashed into the gates at St Mary’s Church, in Lord Lane, Failsworth, and burst into flames.

The man was detained by locals until police arrived on the scene.

Police were not able to provide more details of the incident, which happened in the early hours of Saturday, at the time of going to press.


A FORD Focus car was destroyed in an arson attack on Saturday night. Firefighters dealt with the incident in Abbeyhills Road, Oldham, shortly before 10.
