GOING with the flow . . . North Chadderton School’s winning team

YOUNG businessmen and women battled it out in the final of Oldham’s annual Young Enterprise competition.

Teams from eight secondary schools which have started their own businesses took part in the event at Oldham Academy North — winners last year. The teams had to set up a trade stand to show off their companies and products, and make a presentation.

Judges included Oldham College student Eric Bishyika, who owns his own clothing company; Oldham Council’s director of education and skills Tom Stannard, and Oldham Chamber vice president Joanne Taylor.

Flow from North Chadderton - which sells lids for glasses and cans to stop drinks being spiked was the overall winner. The team will represent Oldham in the Greater Manchester final on May 4 with runners-up Glassique from Oldham Academy North, which produces hand-painted glasses and candle holders. Glassique also won the award for the best trade stand, while the prize for the best presentation went to Hathershaw College’s Lumiere which makes personalised, wooden desk-tidies.
