A HEARTBROKEN mum is making an emotional memorial walk from where her twins were stillborn to the place they were laid to rest.
Kimberley Prestwich will be accompanied on the six-mile journey from the Royal Oldham Hospital to Dukinfield Crematorium by her four-year-old son Harry in memory of Adam and Alfie, born at 20 weeks in 2013.
Kimberley (28) from Bardsley will be raising money for the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, Sands, which supported the family after their loss.
“It’s as emotional now as it was the day they were born and it’s still very hard to deal with,” said Kimberley - who will also be close to giving birth to her fourth child, a little boy, when she does the walk on June 5.
“You have to be strong and get on with life,” she added. “We’ve wanted to do something like this to remember Adam and Alfie for a long time, but we never knew what. We thought this would be a good way of us showing our love for them.
“When I sat down with Harry he right away said he wanted to do it. There might have to be breaks for little legs and big bellies!” Her partner Phil Chipperfield won’t be able to join the walk due to a back injury
Kimberley added: “If it wasn’t for Sands, Phil wouldn’t have been able to stay with me after Adam and Alfie were born,” said Kimberley. “They fund a room you can spend time in with your babies afterwards and provided us with special memory boxes that we brought home. They meant so much to us.”
