Driver has lucky escape after falling down an embankment in Newhey
A DRIVER had a lucky escape when his car plunged down an embankment and crashed into a tree.
The accident happened in Huddersfield Road, Newhey on Friday afternoon. The driver is believed to be from Sholver.
Emergency services arrived after calls the driver, who has a hearing impairment, had lost control of his Renault Megane.
Despite the car tumbling down the embankment, the 32-year-old man managed to free himself. Passer by Mirella Natale, from Greenfield, witnessed the crash, in which the car spun 360 degrees before coming to rest, then sat with the driver until the ambulance arrived. He was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
